Job Role & Responsibilities
The Trainee Chemist role is a junior-level, laboratory-based position within the Synthetic Organic Chemistry team. The role supports ongoing research projects and experimental work under the guidance of experienced scientists.
Key Responsibilities
• Demonstrate strong theoretical understanding of organic chemistry principles
• Execute assigned laboratory experiments independently under defined protocols
• Participate actively in organic synthesis and process development projects
• Perform purification activities and support reaction work-ups
• Monitor reaction progress using chromatographic techniques such as TLC and Rf analysis
• Interpret analytical data from NMR, Mass spectroscopy, IR, HPLC, and GC
• Maintain accurate experimental records and laboratory documentation
• Use MS Word, Excel, and chemical structure drawing software for reporting and documentation
• Follow laboratory safety guidelines and standard operating procedures
This role provides early-career chemists with practical exposure to industrial R&D environments involving agrochemical, API, fine chemical, and CRO-related research.
Eligibility / Qualifications
This position is suitable for freshers and early-career chemistry graduates seeking laboratory-based research roles.
Required qualifications:
• Master of Science in Organic Chemistry or General Chemistry
• Strong foundational knowledge of organic chemistry concepts
• Willingness to work in a laboratory-based R&D environment
• Attention to detail and ability to follow experimental protocols
• Basic familiarity with analytical techniques is preferred
Relevant educational background includes:
MSc Organic Chemistry, MSc General Chemistry, MSc Industrial Chemistry, MSc Pharmaceutical Chemistry
