Colgate-Palmolive Hiring Research Trainee – Global Science & Systems in Mumbai: Postgraduates in Chemistry, Biology & Pharmacy

Colgate-Palmolive is hiring a Research Trainee for its Global Science & Systems function at its India Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Mumbai. This is a fixed-term contractual role for a 2-year traineeship, open to postgraduate candidates with a background in Pure Sciences such as Chemistry or Biology, Pharmacy, or Cosmetic Technology, and a working knowledge of SAP database management or system administration concepts. The posting notes that only relevant candidates will be contacted for further process. For freshers and recent postgraduates searching for science and R&D trainee jobs in Mumbai, this is a structured, learning-focused entry point into the research and data governance operations of a globally recognised consumer products company.

Company Overview

Colgate-Palmolive Company is one of the world’s largest consumer products companies, operating in over 200 countries and specialising across Oral Care, Personal Care, Home Care, Skin Care, and Pet Nutrition categories. Its products are among the most trusted and widely used in households around the world, reflecting decades of product science, regulatory compliance, and consumer safety excellence. The company is guided by core values of Caring, Inclusivity, and Courage, and has committed to building an inclusive workplace where every employee can bring their authentic self to work. Its India Global Technology Centre in Mumbai functions as part of Colgate’s worldwide network of research and innovation hubs, supporting product lifecycle management, data governance, and scientific systems that underpin the company’s global product portfolio.

Job Role & Responsibilities

The Research Trainee in Global Science & Systems will work within a team responsible for the governance and integrity of Colgate’s proprietary data in the form of raw materials and recipes used across its product categories. This is both an administrative and scientific role, positioned as a learning opportunity with structured mentoring throughout the 2-year tenure.

Core day-to-day responsibilities include performing first-level data review of Colgate raw materials and recipes within a defined turnaround time of 72 hours, providing security access roles for systems such as PDP, DMS, PPM, and LIMS after appropriate due diligence on each user’s background, routing Human Use Protocols (HUP) through SAP-DMS to the correct reviewers and supporting the process in Veeva as an Admin. The trainee will also route Adverse Events arising from HUP studies to the Pharmacovigilance team for evaluation, provide technical support and procedural guidance to over 2,000 English-speaking PDM end-users across phone calls, emails, and instant messages, and support the team in PDM data cleansing and ancillary activities such as obsoleting recipes and managing system searches.

What You Will Learn

This traineeship is designed around structured growth rather than immediate independent ownership. Trainees will build core expertise in the principles governing raw material and recipe data, develop a solid understanding of due diligence processes for granting SAP system access, and gain insight into how departments such as Analytical, R&I, Microbiology, and implementation and support teams connect within R&D. The role also builds operational excellence, encouraging trainees to apply technical expertise and creativity to proactively identify and resolve potential issues in discussion with team leads. Structured training sessions will be conducted periodically, covering technical and soft skills, along with specific training on Colgate’s Quality and Safety principles, ensuring trainees work in a safe, quality-driven environment throughout their tenure.
