The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), part of Tata Memorial Centre under the Department of Atomic Energy, has opened applications for its intensive one-year Cancer Cytogenetic Training and Internship Program. Job Role & Responsibilities
This program combines structured academic learning with laboratory-based training and a mandatory internship. Selected trainees will be expected to:
- Perform routine and advanced cytogenetic tests under supervision.
- Learn and execute techniques in conventional cytogenetics and molecular cancer cytogenetics.
- Assist with karyotyping, chromosomal analysis, FISH, sample preparation, and cell culture.
- Participate in laboratory quality control procedures.
- Maintain documentation and technical records as per regulatory standards.
- Work with faculty on research-driven laboratory activities.
- Attend periodic examinations and assessments.
- Contribute to laboratory workflows during the internship phase.
The program demands precision, discipline, and strong scientific aptitude, providing trainees with industry-relevant expertise used in cancer hospitals, diagnostic labs, and genomic research facilities.
Eligibility / Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Candidates must hold a M.Tech or M.Sc degree with minimum 60% marks from a recognized State University in one of the following disciplines:

- Medical Genetics / Biomedical Genetics

- Cytogenetics
- Biochemistry
- Medical Laboratory Sciences
Experience Preference
Candidates with 3–6 months’ laboratory experience in cytogenetics will be preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Upload CGPA-to-percentage conversion certificate.
- Mandatory to produce M.Sc/M.Tech passing certificate at interview.
- Candidates working in government or public sector organizations must apply through proper channel.
Age Limit
- Up to 30 years on the last date of application.

Course Duration, Seats & Fees
Total Duration
12 months (6 months training + 6 months internship) starting 02 February 2026.

Course Fees
- Rs. 12,000 + 18% GST
Security Deposit
- Rs. 5,000, refundable only after successful completion of both training and internship.
- Forfeited if candidate leaves early.
Stipend & Internship Details
Stipend During Training
- Rs. 10,000 per month for six months.
- If trainee discontinues midway, the entire stipend amount with interest must be repaid.
Mandatory Internship
After completing training, candidates must undergo a 6-month internship at ACTREC from 01 August 2026, receiving:
- Rs. 15,000 per month consolidated salary.
If the intern discontinues before completing the internship, the full amount of stipend + internship remuneration with interest must be returned.
Additional Requirements
- Hepatitis B vaccination must be completed.
- Accommodation is not provided.
