BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI), formerly CIAB and NABI, invites aspiring researchers with fellowships (CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR, etc.) to apply for Ph.D. positions in Chemical Sciences. Located at Knowledge City, Mohali, this premier autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India, is a leader in translating bioprocess innovations into impactful applications across India’s agri-food landscape.

BRIC-NABI will conduct a walk-in interview on 21 July 2025 to select candidates for its Ph.D. program in Chemical Sciences. Candidates with valid fellowships from recognized agencies are eligible to apply.

About BRIC-NABI: A Hub for Bioinnovation
BRIC-NABI is India’s first institute dedicated solely to the agri-food biotechnology sector. The institute’s mandate spans four core R&D areas:
Focus Research Areas:
- Value addition to processing residues/waste for edible use
- Valorisation of crop waste into specialty products/chemicals
- Development of nutraceuticals and bio-product upgrades
- Synthetic biology for low-volume, high-value products like enzymes
These projects are designed to transform raw bioproducts into usable food-grade and industrial solutions.
Who Can Apply? – Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
- MSc. in Chemistry (General, Organic, Inorganic, Physical, Pharmaceutical, or Allied streams) OR
- M.Pharm from a recognized university/institute
Fellowship Requirement:
Candidates must have their own fellowship awarded by one of the following:
- CSIR
- UGC
- DBT
- DST
- ICAR
- ICMR
- GPAT/NTA or other national-level fellowships like JEST, JGEEBILS (TIFR/NCBS)
📝 Final year students awaiting results but already awarded fellowships are also eligible.

As per CSIR-UGC and DST guidelines.

⚠️ Incomplete or ineligible applications will not be entertained. No TA/DA will be provided.
Selection Procedure
A screening committee will shortlist candidates, followed by a personal interview. Final selection will be made by a duly constituted panel, and selected candidates will be enrolled in the PhD program of IISER Mohali, which will confer the final degree.
The Executive Director, BRIC-NABI, reserves the right to set screening criteria based on application volume.
