Job Role & Responsibilities
The Trainee Medical Coder role focuses on training and hands-on learning in medical coding, followed by deployment into live production environments. Selected candidates will undergo structured training before being aligned to specific coding specialties.
Key responsibilities include:
- Learning medical coding guidelines, anatomy, and clinical documentation standards
- Coding emergency department (ED) or evaluation and management (E/M) records under supervision
- Assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT codes accurately based on physician documentation
- Understanding US healthcare reimbursement workflows and compliance requirements
- Maintaining coding accuracy, productivity, and quality benchmarks during training
- Participating in assessments, audits, and feedback sessions as part of the training module
- Following HIPAA guidelines and internal compliance standards
This role provides a strong foundation for building long-term careers in medical coding and healthcare revenue cycle management.

Educational Requirements
- Graduation in Life Sciences or Paramedical disciplines
BSc Life Sciences, BSc Biotechnology, BSc Microbiology, BSc Biochemistry, BSc Nursing, BSc Allied Health Sciences, Paramedical Courses, Diploma in Health Sciences
