Job Role & Responsibilities

Position: Project Associate I

Number of Positions: 1
Location: NIAB, Hyderabad

This is a research-focused role requiring active participation in molecular parasitology and diagnostic development.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Experimental Work:

  • Perform molecular biology techniques including gene cloning and recombinant protein expression
  • Conduct protein purification and characterization experiments
  • Assist in development of lateral flow immunochromatographic assays
  • Execute laboratory experiments related to parasitic infection diagnostics

Data & Documentation:

  • Maintain laboratory notebooks and research records
  • Compile experimental data for analysis and reporting
  • Support preparation of technical reports and project documentation

Project Support:

  • Assist the Principal Investigator in day-to-day project execution
  • Ensure adherence to laboratory safety and research compliance standards
  • Participate in scientific discussions and troubleshooting activities

This role provides strong exposure to applied biotechnology research, diagnostic assay development, and translational science under government-funded projects.


Eligibility / Qualifications

Essential Qualification

M.Sc, M.V.Sc, or M.Tech in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or related Life Sciences disciplines from a recognized university.

Relevant Courses (comma-separated):

M.Sc Biotechnology, M.Sc Biochemistry, M.Sc Microbiology, M.V.Sc, M.Tech Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Life Sciences

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in molecular parasitology

Fellowship & Tenure

Fellowship Structure (as per DST guidelines):

  • Rs. 31,000 + 24% HRA (for candidates with NET/GATE or national-level selection qualification)
  • Rs. 25,000 + HRA (for candidates without NET/GATE)

Tenure: 1 year (extendable based on performance and project duration). The position is co-terminus with the project.
