The Department of Pharmacology, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), invites applications for 1 Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) under an ICMR-sponsored research project. This is a high-value research opportunity for M.Pharm graduates in Pharmaceutics or Pharmacology who are passionate about neurodegenerative disease research and advanced drug delivery systems.
The selected candidate will work on the project titled “Development and evaluation of exosome-based therapeutics targeting glial cells to prevent neurodegeneration.” The role offers a consolidated remuneration of ₹61,600 per month (₹56,000 + 10% HRA). The appointment is initially for one year and may be extended up to three years based on performance and project requirements.
This position is ideal for candidates seeking hands-on exposure in translational pharmacology research, nanocarrier-based drug delivery, exosome formulation, and neurotherapeutics development under a reputed academic research environment.

Job Role & Responsibilities
As Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical), you will contribute to experimental design, execution, and data analysis related to exosome-based therapeutic development.
Research & Development Activities
- Formulation and development of exosome-based drug delivery systems.
- Evaluation of therapeutic potential targeting glial cells in neurodegeneration models.
- Conducting in vitro and in vivo experimental studies.
- Animal handling and preclinical pharmacology experiments as per approved ethical guidelines.
Data Analysis & Documentation
- Recording, analyzing, and interpreting experimental results.
- Assisting in preparation of research manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
- Supporting grant documentation and project progress reports.
- Maintaining laboratory records in compliance with institutional and funding agency guidelines.
Scientific Communication
- Presenting research findings in internal meetings and scientific forums.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams.
- Contributing to technical writing and publication drafting.
This role plays a direct part in advancing novel neurotherapeutic strategies and strengthening India’s biomedical research ecosystem.
Eligibility / Qualifications
Essential Qualification
M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics, M.Pharm in Pharmacology, or equivalent postgraduate degree.
Relevant Specializations: Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Drug Delivery Systems, Neuropharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology.
Desirable Skills
- Prior research or industry experience in exosome formulation and development.
- Experience in animal handling and preclinical experimental models.
- Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Strong scientific writing and communication skills.
Candidates with demonstrated laboratory research experience in nanomedicine, extracellular vesicles, or neurodegenerative disease models will have an advantage.
