Job Role & Responsibilities
As a Certified HCC Medical Coder, your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing accurate and compliant Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) coding using ICD-10-CM guidelines.
- Reviewing medical records and translating documentation into appropriate diagnostic codes.
- Conducting Quality Assurance (QA/QC) checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with payer policies.
- Collaborating with auditing teams to identify documentation gaps and recommend process improvements.
- Staying updated with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) coding regulations and compliance standards.
- Maintaining productivity and accuracy targets as per project requirements.
- Supporting virtual and on-site audits when required.
Eligibility / Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Coder (CPC, CCS, CCA, CRC, or equivalent certification from AAPC/AHIMA)
- Minimum 6 months of experience in medical coding, preferably in HCC coding
- Strong understanding of healthcare terminology, anatomy, and disease processes
Preferred Skills:
- Hands-on experience in HCC risk adjustment coding
- Familiarity with EHR and RCM platforms (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech)
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced healthcare environments
Relevant Courses:
- B.Sc Nursing, B.Pharm, M.Pharm, Life Sciences, BPT, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, and Medical Coding Certification Programs.
