Job Role & Responsibilities

As a Microbiologist at Akums, you will support routine microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and quality assurance activities to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out microbiological tests for raw materials, in-process samples and finished products.
• Perform environmental monitoring (air, surface, personnel) and maintain logs.
• Prepare and sterilize media, reagents, and culture plates following SOPs.
• Execute microbial identification and enumeration procedures (TC, RODAC, membrane filtration, etc.).
• Record results accurately, investigate discrepancies and raise deviations when required.
• Assist in CAPA and root cause analysis for microbiological excursions.
• Support cleaning validation and sterilization monitoring activities.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, perform basic calibration checks and report issues.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, GLP and internal SOPs at all times.

Eligibility / Qualifications

Required Education

BSc Microbiology, MSc Microbiology, BSc Biotechnology, BSc Biochemistry, BPharm, Diploma in Microbiology, M.Sc in Life Sciences.

Experience

0–2 years of experience in microbiology or quality control in pharma, biotech, or laboratory settings. Freshers with internship or project experience in microbiological techniques are encouraged to apply.

Skills & Attributes

• Good knowledge of microbiological methods and aseptic techniques.
• Familiarity with GMP, SOPs and laboratory documentation.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow protocols strictly.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and report preparation.
