Job Role & Responsibilities

Research Associate / Senior Research Associate – Process R&D

• Plan, execute and monitor assigned lab experiments with minimal supervision.
• Perform reaction monitoring using TLC, HPLC or GC as applicable.
• Work on named reactions, reaction mechanisms and scale-up studies.
• Handle purification techniques and maintain accurate experimental records.
• Conduct impurity profiling and in-process control checks.
• Carry out spectroscopy interpretation including Proton NMR, HNMR and Mass.
• Compile experimental data and prepare batch reports and development reports.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, documentation standards and project timelines.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Process R&D team.

These responsibilities require strong organic chemistry fundamentals, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced research environment.

Eligibility / Qualifications

• Qualification Required: M.Sc – Organic Chemistry.
• Experience Range: 2–6 years in Process R&D, CRO/CMO, or formulation development labs.
• Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms, impurity pathways and analytical interpretation.
• Ability to independently handle fume hood operations, reaction set-ups and troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication, documentation and teamwork skills.

Relevant courses (comma-separated): M.Sc Organic Chemistry, M.Sc Pharmaceutical Chemistry, M.Sc Medicinal Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry courses, Spectroscopy training modules, Process Chemistry certifications.

Skills Required

• Ability to independently handle reactions and monitor progress.
• Knowledge of named reactions, mechanisms and retrosynthesis.
• Proficiency in Proton NMR, HNMR and Mass spectroscopy data interpretation.
• Experience in impurity profiling and in-process controls.
• Strong understanding of lab validation experiments and data compilation.
• Adherence to GMP-aligned documentation, quality standards and safety systems.
• Capability to meet project deadlines and quality parameters consistently.
