Data Collection Internship at MSSRF – Public Health Project

This internship is part of a diabetes-focused project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), where you’ll gain first-hand experience in public health data collection, analysis, and fieldwork.
Internship Overview
Job Title: Data Collection Intern – BMGF Diabetes Project
- Location: Chennai (Fieldwork in Chengalpattu district)
- No. of Positions: 1
- Mode: Full-time Internship
- Monthly Stipend: As per project norms
- Duration: Immediate start with project-based tenure
Key Responsibilities
- Support the study coordinator in collecting patient-level follow-up data from Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and sub-centres.
- Assist in manual data entry, verification, and maintenance of data integrity.
- Liaise with PHC staff and ensure proper data documentation and coordination.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
- Contribute to reporting activities and project documentation.
- Collaborate with MSSRF’s IT and research teams for structured data management.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualification
- Recent graduates in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, Clinical Research, or related disciplines.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), especially diabetes, is preferred.
- Experience with manual/digital data collection tools and MS Excel.
- Proficiency in Tamil is mandatory (reading, writing, speaking).
- Good interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to travel and adapt to field conditions in rural Tamil Nadu.
