Job Role & Responsibilities
As a Medical Surveillance Specialist, you will be responsible for providing medical oversight and surveillance support in clinical studies. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitor and evaluate laboratory results daily from sponsor-designated central laboratories.
- Analyze laboratory data using sponsor-designated data management systems or eDC platforms.
- Conduct preliminary reviews of laboratory results relative to protocol-specific reference ranges.
- Compare current laboratory results with prior values to identify clinically significant changes.
- Liaise with investigator sites for additional clinical information as needed.
- Serve as the link between the Medical Services Department, sponsor-designated laboratories, and IQVIA Project Teams.
- Maintain updated laboratory knowledge through continuing education or medical seminars.
- Identify significant trends or shifts in laboratory results and alert IQVIA Medical Advisors.
- Collaborate with project teams to convey critical information impacting study objectives.
- Facilitate monitoring and reporting of subject laboratory results in coordination with central laboratory staff.
- Assist Lead Medical Surveillance Specialist in project setup activities.
- Attend project team meetings and perform other related duties as assigned.
Eligibility / Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or allied health sciences (Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy), or healthcare fields (Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Dentistry).
- Experience: 2–6 years relevant experience, with a minimum of 2.5 years in medical surveillance.
- Strong analytical skills, technical ability to integrate scientific data, and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, data management, and relevant computer applications.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
