Job Role & Responsibilities
As a Medical Information Specialist you will be the first point of contact for healthcare professionals and patients seeking product or safety-related information. Your role will require clear scientific communication, strict documentation, and timely follow-up.
Core Responsibilities
- Receive, lodge, triage, and respond to medical inquiries, product quality complaints, and adverse drug reaction (ADR) reports.
- Maintain and update inquiry and ADR trackers; ensure accurate case scheduling and timely closure.
- Triage suspected safety signals and forward relevant cases to the pharmacovigilance team for evaluation.
- Retrieve and interpret scientific literature and regulatory documents to generate evidence-based responses.
- Communicate with reporters — physicians, pharmacists and patients — to collect complete case information and provide follow-up.
- Share validated medical information with stakeholders and maintain confidentiality and data integrity.
- Perform reconciliation activities to ensure all reported cases are logged and tracked consistently.
- Support process improvement and help build SOPs, knowledge bases and template responses for common queries.
These responsibilities require precision, good scientific judgment, and familiarity with medical terminology, drug safety principles, and regulatory expectations.
Eligibility / Qualifications
Required Education
- B.Pharm or M.Pharm
Relevant courses: Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Pharmacovigilance, Drug Safety, Pharmaceutics, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Experience
- 1 to 2 years of experience in medical information, pharmacovigilance, or drug safety functions.
- Experience handling ADRs, product quality complaints, case reconciliation, and medical inquiry response is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to evaluate scientific literature and craft clear, compliant responses.
- Familiarity with case management systems, trackers and MS Office tools.
- Attention to detail and strong organisation for tracking open inquiries and follow-ups.
- Medical/clinical aptitude with the ability to liaise with healthcare professionals.
