Cognizant has opened a position for SPE-Pharmacovigilance, working as a Junior Data Analyst within its pharmacovigilance case processing function, based in Mumbai on a hybrid work model. The role is targeted at candidates with 1 to 4 years of relevant pharmacovigilance experience, making it a strong fit for B.Pharm or M.Pharm graduates who already have some hands-on exposure to PV case processing and are looking to grow their career in pharmacovigilance jobs within a large global technology and services organisation.
Company Overview
Cognizant, listed on Nasdaq under the ticker CTSH, positions itself as an AI builder and technology services provider that helps bridge the gap between AI investment and tangible enterprise value by building full-stack AI solutions for its clients. The company brings deep industry, process, and engineering expertise to its work, embedding an organisation’s unique context into technology systems that amplify human potential and drive measurable outcomes for global enterprises. With more than 350,000 roles across the organisation worldwide, Cognizant offers significant scope for employees to explore new technologies, industries, and locations over the course of their career. For pharmacovigilance professionals, joining Cognizant means working within a large-scale, technology-driven safety operations environment rather than a standalone PV consultancy, with exposure to multiple client accounts and therapeutic areas.
Job Role & Responsibilities
This role is centred on Individual Case Safety Report (ICSR) processing and case management within the ARGUS safety database. Core responsibilities include triaging and intaking ICSRs within agreed timelines, downloading and monitoring valid ICSRs from EudraVigilance and other relevant sources, and processing literature, spontaneous, clinical trial, and solicited cases. The role also involves searching for valid ICSRs using literature search tools, generating reports for submission to health authorities and business partners, and entering both serious and non-serious ICSRs into ARGUS in line with client SOPs and Work Instructions, with a strong emphasis on accuracy.
A key part of the role involves coding events, indications, and patient history using MedDRA terminology, coding suspect products, amending narratives, and labeling events appropriately. The Junior Data Analyst is also responsible for obtaining follow-up information on cases as required, submitting processed cases to regulatory authorities, and distributing reports to relevant partners. Beyond case processing itself, the role includes communicating effectively with client stakeholders and internal teams, attending internal and client training sessions to stay aligned with evolving guidelines, supporting the development and maintenance of SOPs, contributing to team training initiatives, troubleshooting process-related issues, and participating in rotational shifts to support coverage across different time zones.
