Job Role & Responsibilities
As a Research Associate – Antibody Engineering, you will support antibody discovery and molecular engineering programs by executing complex laboratory experiments and generating high-quality, reproducible data.
Key responsibilities include:
- Extraction and purification of DNA and RNA from various biological samples
- Design and execution of PCR-based experiments including inverse PCR, touchdown PCR, gradient PCR, long amplicon PCR, TaqMan assays, and real-time PCR
- Gel electrophoresis and analysis of nucleic acids
- Preparation of ultra-competent cells and execution of bacterial transformations using chemical and electroporation methods
- Hands-on execution of molecular cloning techniques including subcloning, Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate cloning, Gateway cloning, and In-Fusion cloning
- Generation, documentation, and timely updating of experimental data in laboratory notebooks and electronic databases
- Collaboration with cross-functional research teams to support antibody engineering workflows
- Compliance with laboratory safety, health, and environmental systems and procedures
- Maintenance of high data integrity standards and adherence to internal SOPs
Eligibility / Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- M.Sc. in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline
Relevant courses include:
M.Sc Life Sciences, M.Sc Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetic Engineering
Experience Requirements
- 2 to 6 years of relevant research experience in molecular biology or antibody engineering laboratories
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong practical knowledge of molecular biology techniques
- Proven experience in PCR assay development and optimization
- Expertise in cloning strategies and plasmid construction
- Ability to generate consistent, high-quality experimental data
- Strong documentation and data management practices
- Understanding of laboratory safety, health, and environmental compliance
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in collaborative research environments
