Job Role & Responsibilities
The Medical Coder / Senior Coder will be responsible for reviewing and accurately coding patient medical records based on CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS guidelines. Candidates will work closely with physicians and clinical teams to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform coding for designated specialties such as Surgery, Ancillary, E/M (Inpatient & Outpatient), SDS, Multi-speciality Denials, Cardio Surgery, Neuro Surgery, and Radiation Oncology.
- Apply accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to clinical data.
- Maintain coding accuracy, productivity standards, and quality benchmarks.
- Conduct regular audits and peer reviews to ensure compliance with payer requirements.
- Collaborate with quality and billing teams to resolve claim rejections or denials.
- Maintain updated knowledge of CMS guidelines, payer rules, and industry trends.
Eligibility / Qualifications
Education:
B.Sc, M.Sc, B.Pharm, M.Pharm, Life Sciences, Nursing, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or related disciplines.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant medical coding experience in any of the mentioned specialties.
Freshers are not eligible for this role.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems.
- Exposure to E/M and multi-specialty coding workflows.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and payer guidelines.
