Job Role & Responsibilities
The Research Associate will be responsible for:
- Conducting API process development including feasibility studies, optimization, assurance batch validation, and identification of critical process parameters.
- Preparing comprehensive Process Development Reports and performing scale-up from laboratory to kilo lab.
- Studying and modifying reaction/process conditions in alignment with Quality by Design (QbD) principles.
- Organizing multiple reactions concurrently, efficiently producing target compounds while deprioritizing side reactions.
- Performing literature searches to identify optimal synthetic routes and reaction conditions using tools such as SciFinder.
- Identifying efficient and robust synthetic routes for the preparation of NCE compounds and APIs.
- Interpreting analytical data to guide synthetic experimental planning.
- Handling batch sizes ranging from gram scale to kilogram scale.
- Maintaining accurate records of experiments, observations, and relevant data in laboratory notebooks.
- Transferring API processes and intermediates from lab scale to pilot plant and eventually to production floor.
This role demands scientific acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced research environment.
Eligibility / Qualifications
- Educational Background: B.Sc, M.Sc, or M.Pharm in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related disciplines.
- Experience: Prior experience in API process development, Kilo lab, or pilot plant operations.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of organic synthesis and pharmaceutical process chemistry.
- Proficiency in interpreting analytical data and driving experimental plans.
- Experience with literature search tools like SciFinder.
- Ability to manage multiple reactions and efficiently organize lab activities.
- Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
